🧰 Fixing the OpalWeb Viewer After the Latest Windows Update (Internet Explorer Mode Missing)

By Kevin Wehmeyer | Technical Support Manager | T&K X-Ray Consultants, Inc.

If your clinic uses Opal-Rad or 2020 Imaging and suddenly cannot open X-rays in OpalWeb, you are not alone. After a recent Windows update, Microsoft quietly removed the Internet Explorer button from Microsoft Edge. That small change broke the OpalWeb viewer in many clinics.

What Is Happening

The OpalWeb viewer depends on Internet Explorer compatibility mode to launch studies. When that feature disappeared, double-clicking an exam inside Opal-Rad or 2020 Imaging now results in nothing. No error, no image, just a viewer that will not open.

The Fix

We created a step-by-step video tutorial that shows how to restore the required Internet Explorer compatibility mode inside Microsoft Edge. This quick and simple workaround restores full access to OpalWeb so you can open and view X-rays again without needing a paid support contract.

Why It Matters

When OpalWeb fails, clinics lose immediate access to diagnostic studies, delaying patient care and creating frustration for staff. This configuration restores the viewer and helps you:

  • Reopen X-rays through the OpalWeb interface

  • Avoid costly downtime or vendor delays

  • Keep your workstation compliant with Microsoft updates
